The problems within the Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro communities are very similar: a very high rate of both unemployment and criminality, drug traffic and lack of any welfare structure.
Given these situations, the “Gol de Letra” Foundation has aimed at developing projects for specific use to the community.

1. Women at work

The initial aim here was to encourage active participation by women either in the community or the Foundation: helping to organise events was one way of making them appreciate the value of their help.

This group, which is constantly growing, has its own important space within the Foundation thanks to a craftwork production line. The articles sold have managed to increase the family income of the women involved by 10 %.

2. Parents back to school

Social welfare-educational meetings are held monthly in order to help the families know one another better. Parents are invited to contribute during the meetings.

3. Citizen goal

Entire days are dedicated to the community, during weekends and holidays. Days are dedicated to social welfare themes : The rights of women, Pregnancy during adolescence, Violence, Work, Health, etc…

4. Saturday entertainment

Every Saturday the Foundation organizes craft markets, film showings and sporting activities.

5. A Network activity

The Foundation works in collaboration with other institutions in the area in order to develop programmes of mutual interest.
These meetings are becoming more and more popular and offer the opportunity for all involved to exchange their ideas.
